Most the shops in Bourg are open every day except Sunday from 9am until noon, then 2.30pm until 7pm.

Markets

Bourg has a year round street market on Saturdays which extends from outside our house up the pedestrian road to the church at the top of the hill. it sells the usual fruit and veg, cheap clothes and local cheese. there are also some stalls selling souveniers and locally produced honey and wine. During the summer months there are craft fairs and bigger Saturday markets. There are also three or four huge car boot sales, where locals sell everything from skis to chickens.

The Cooperative Laiterie

This large traditionally built yellow building accross the road from our chalet is where the local farmers co-operateive sells it's cheese. This is the best place to buy cheap local cheeses, particularly the regional speciality Beaufort. They also sell other locally produced fare such honey, wine and myrttleberry jam.

Groceries

There are Super U, Intermarche and Lidl supermarkets on the main road through Bourg. Super U has the most choice whereas Lidl is smaller but much cheaper. In the centre of the town there are three bakery / patisseries selling fresh bread and cakes, two butchers and a shop called Trading Post which sells English groceries. There are also several tabacs where you can buy stamps and phone cards as well as cigarettes. There are no off-licenses so in the chalet we sell beers for one euro a can, and wine for six euros a bottle.

Fashion

On the pedestrian road which leads from the Marie and town square up to the church there are about 8 clothing shops which stock a wide variety of brands from Billabong to Diesel. There is a shop devoted to hip hop clothing, a jean shop, a hippy clothing shop, a kids clothing shop and a workman's uniform shop. So whatever you want from pink Thai trousers to Gravis trainers you will find what you are looking for on this road.
